A good condition watch with an excellent original PVD finish still present. Watch body finish has a glossy like finish likley due to light wear overtime. The most wear is found on the crown where much of the PVD coating is gone on the edges of the crown and on the face. The bezel insert appears to have been replaced as well. This must have been done prior to my work. Band is in good condition, showing fading mostly on the around the corners of the links and on the clasp. Dial is immaculate and is the highlight of the watch. Second hand hits directly on the markers. Mineral glass is brand new.
TAG HEUER 1000 Automatic "Black Bay Super Patina" Custom
The Tag Heuer 1000 was in a way, the watch that saved Heuer. In the 1970's (prior to the conception of Tag Heuer) Heuer was a mechanical watch and stop watch company. When the quartz revolution began and revolutionized the accuracy of watches, Heuer lost a lot of business to the competition, to fix this issue Heuer created the Series 1000. It was the raging success that they needed and the watch was produced for many years after its initial release . Many variants were released over the 1000's production run, everything from mechanical versions to colored versions.
Although technically a "FrankenWatch" this one of a kind Tag Heuer 1000 is a truly striking watch. Inspired by the legendary Tudor Black bay family, this watch sports an automatic movement just like its idol. This watch features a 980.020 dial, and heavily worn finish. The auto conversion was completed using a swiss clone ETA 2824 movement with claimed accuracy of +/- 10 sec/day. OEM Heuer case, a OEM Tag Heuer dial, an OEM high domed acrylic crystal, and worn lume OEM Heuer hands in gold, this watch comes together beautifully as if it was designed by Tag itself. After weeks of testing, time is kept well and the watch is a gorgeous reminder that automatic movements deserve to be in more Tag Heuer 1000s.
Although technically a "FrankenWatch" this one of a kind Heuer 1000 is a truly striking watch. The contrast of the rich orange Heuer dial and the Tag Heuer 980.031N case which it now sits in, grabs attention like nothing else for a very unique look. Unlike the original Heuers with their picky ESA movements, this Heuer uses a modern movement (the ETA 955.112) that was used in the Tag Heuer 1000 series and is so reliable in fact it is still used in the modern aquaracers of today.
