Condition Description:

This is a great condition Heuer 980.006 first execution. It features an original Heuer stamped movement, original case, bezel, and handset. The case and case backs have some dings and scratches in them, you should be able to see this in the photos. The watch has a new bezel from Justin Bennet, but I will be including the original bezel as well.

There are a few flaws with this watch. First, the caseback is mismatched with that of a 980.029L. Second, there are a few flaws in the dial. There are minor black spots in the 12 hour lume marker and the 5 hour marker in the corners of the lume plots. There is also a slightly different finish in the dial on the right side in the upper right quarter, this is almost impossible to see but I want to make sure the buyer is aware. I noticed it most when the movement assembly was out of the case and I inspected the dial with my loupe. Finally, the hands were relumed and have a slightly different color than the dial.

If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help.

Heuer 1000 980.006 First Execution With Uncle Seiko Rubber Tropic

  • Significance:

The Tag Heuer 1000 was in a way, the watch that saved Heuer. In the 1970's (prior to the conception of Tag Heuer) Heuer was a mechanical watch and stop watch company. When the quartz revolution began and revolutionized the accuracy of watches, Heuer lost a lot of business to the competition, to fix this issue Heuer created the Series 1000. It was the raging success that they needed and the watch was produced for many years after its initial release . Many variants were released over the 1000's production run, everything from mechanical versions to colored versions.
